Fugro Survey (Middle East) Ltd. has been operating in the Middle East since 1978. Originally operated under the name of “Geomex”, the company became involved in the positioning activities of rigs working for ZADCO during the appraisal phase of the upper Zakum Field Development.

In 1979, a consortium of three survey companies – Intersite, Geomex and Wimpol – was formally established and named IGW. This consortium was awarded the positioning and survey contract by ZADCO for their Zakum Field Development programme, which by 1984 had some 84 platforms and 250 wells in place.
